Hot Water Heater Replacement in Passaic County

Not all hot water heater problems require water heater replacement in Passaic County, some of them can be fixed relatively easily. These are the most common problems that you can fix on your own.
  • No hot water – if it's a gas water heater, check the pilot light. If the pilot light is on, or shuts off immediately after being lit then certain parts are faulty and need to be replaced. If you have an electric water heater it could be the heating element that needs to be replaced.
  • Rusty water – Inside the water heater there is an anode rod that slowly dissolves to prevent rust from forming inside the water tank. When this starts to fail or completely dissolves the rust will appear in your water, and the anode rod needs to be replaced.
  • Funny smell – Water will start to smell like rotten eggs if a bacterial infection has started in the tank. This problem is fixable but requires a good amount of time to complete it. It involves flushing the hot water heater and filling it with back up with a hydrogen peroxide solution, and flushing it again.
  • Popping noise or high-pitch whining – This may be caused by excessive sedimentary build up at the bottom of the tank. This happens if you have a faulty water softener and hard water. This requires a complete water heater flush and some serious elbow grease to remove the sediment.

These problems are the most common, you may have a more serious problem on your hands however. If that is the case you may need a water heater replacement in Passaic County. 1st Choice Plumbing and Heating are experts on hot water heaters and will help you assess the situation.
